Ah, chocolate cocktails - the dessert of our dreams.... Whether you’re planning a party, having dinner guests over, or just want to try something new, these chocolate cocktail recipes are made specifically for chocolate lovers.
Many chocolate cocktails call for chocolate sauce - and lots of it! Adventure into culinary territory by making a homemade chocolate sauce that’s sure to impress your guests (and you, for that matter!).
Preparing the sauce is easy and simple. Whisk together the following ingredients over a saucepan, then add vanilla.
- ½ cup TCHO unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ cup cold water
- 1½ teaspoons vanilla
These ingredient measurements yield 14oz of chocolate sauce, which should be plenty. But, double or triple the recipe as you see fit!
Now that we have our chocolate sauce, here are some must-have chocolate cocktails.
1. “Death by Chocolate”
The name says it all. Death by Chocolate from The Spruce Eats is a frozen vodka cocktail with loads of chocolate! You’ll need a blender and one cup of crushed ice. Blend together with one ounce of your homemade chocolate syrup, one ounce of coffee liqueur, two scoops of chocolate ice cream, one ounce of vodka, one ounce creme de cacao liqueur.
Once blended to your desired consistency, garnish with a dollop of whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and a sprinkling of cacao nibs.
2. “Shake Your Bon Bon”
Every great bartender loves bringing out their shaker! This chocolate cocktail variation from Town and Country brings some coffee into the mix, calling for two shots of espresso, in addition to your homemade chocolate syrup, vanilla syrup, milk, and ice to make it cold.
Shake it like a polaroid picture, then garnish with whipped cream and a chocolate topping of your choice - we recommend one of our bite-size bars. Personalize with Toffee + Sea Salt, Mokaccino, or Almond + Sea Salt: three of our best selling flavors!
3. The Classic Chocolate Martini
Finally, the simple yet perfect chocolate martini is always a crowd pleaser. Since it’s all about presentation, drizzle your homemade chocolate sauce all over the martini glasses. One fun idea is to dip the rims of the martini glasses into the chocolate syrup. Then, add Bailey’s, chocolate liqueur, and vodka to a cocktail shaker with ice and give it a good shake, shake, shake!
Pour the liquor mixture into each waiting martini glass, then drizzle with even more chocolate syrup. To double the chocolate trouble, add a sprinkle of cocoa powder over the top before the last drizzle!.
These cocktail recipes are great to enjoy with friends, or even just on your own with a good book! All you need is a good cocktail shaker, chocolate liqueurs of your choice, and TCHO’s cocoa powder for a homemade chocolate sauce. Now, that’s a homemade touch you can’t find at a bar.
