All you chocolate lovers out there, is there a better way to kick off the day than noshing on a chocolate-centric breakfast?! Since we can’t indulge like it’s Sunday brunch every day, it’s probably best to have some healthier breakfast recipes that feature chocolate as a main ingredient. This way, we can satisfy our chocolate cravings and fuel ourselves up with nutrients for the day ahead.
Dark Chocolate Quinoa Breakfast Bowl
A chocolate breakfast bowl featuring quinoa gets some “healthy-ish” points, thanks to the abundant source of protein that comes from quinoa. Keep the mornings a little extra by putting together this breakfast bowl featuring the following ingredients:
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- Two tablespoons unsweetened TCHO Natural Cocoa Powder
- 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1 cup uncooked white quinoa
- 3-4 squares of chopped TCHO dark chocolate (our almond dark chocolate also pairs well with the almond milk)
After rinsing and toasting the quinoa in a saucepan, you’ll add all of the liquids, bringing the mixture up to a boil and then reducing to low heat for about 20 minutes until the liquid is absorbed. Then, add the maple syrup, cocoa powder, and a hint of vanilla extract. For a finishing touch, add berries of your choice (we like bananas, strawberries, and TCHO Roasted Cacao Nibs) on top!
Double Chocolate Bran Muffins
Muffins for breakfast are even better than they sound when they don’t include any refined sugar or flour. Double chocolate bran muffins feature the following ingredients:
- ¾ cup unsweetened TCHO Natural Cocoa Powder
- ½ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
- ¾ cup nonfat milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- Ground cinnamon
- ½ tablespoon coconut oil
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
And more - like chocolate chunks (chop up any of our baking discs or bars and fold in), oat bran, molasses, a hint of salt, and egg whites! Honey or agave can easily replace the maple syrup if you’d prefer!
Chocolate Breakfast Oatmeal Cupcakes
Oatmeal is another staple of breakfast, thanks to its dosage of minerals, vitamins, and fiber. So, chocolate breakfast oatmeal cupcakes bring the feel of dessert to a solid morning start. Make just one batch, and you can store the leftovers in the freezer or snack on them over the coming few weeks.
- 2 ½ cups rolled oats
- 1 ¼ cup mashed overripe banana
- Maple syrup or honey
- ¼ cup unsweetened TCHO cocoa powder
Add additional ingredients such as chocolate chunks (chop up any of our baking discs or bars and fold in), dried fruit, nuts, or chia seeds as you wish.
Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Protein Shake
If you’re a breakfast-on-the-go type of person or on your way to the gym before work, a chocolate banana peanut butter protein shake should do the trick. They’re easy to make, easy to drink, and will keep you going until lunchtime. The ingredients are simple, too:
- Six ice cubes
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop chocolate flavored protein powder
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- And 1 teaspoon of unsweetened TCHO Natural cocoa powder (or more, if you really love the chocolate taste!)
Blend all the ingredients together, and you’ll be ready to head out the door within ten minutes.
These chocolate-inspired breakfast recipes will help you look forward to the start of the day. Pair with a mocha for extra chocolate goodness!
